Halian Provides Sun Microsystems’s Operations and Engineering Team to Major Bank in Luxembourg

Introduction

Sun Microsystems engaged Halian to provide operational and engineering skills to support a major bank in Luxembourg who were moving to new locations and the migrating to Windows 2003 server. Halian were selected by Sun because of their expertise and experience across both Sun and Microsoft technologies.

Background

In order to avoid as much downtime as possible and to ensure a successful move the bank realised they needed to engage the services of highly experienced individuals.

They turned to Sun for support and advice with the project and Halian were chosen because of their proven ability to support heterogeneous systems, including Oracle, Wintel, and UNIX. They also have a very strong track record for delivering mission critical support using ITIL guidance to a number of high profile Sun customers.

The project saw a team of five highly skilled people working within the bank’s 0perations and engineering department.

Solution

Following a successful move, Halian is now providing first line support to the banks diverse range of IT systems, with a predominance of Windows, which in turn are running many mission critical applications. These have been configured to provide optimum resiliency and multiple levels of redundancy at all levels.
As well as providing support, Halian is also carrying out proactive maintenance to ensure that the programmes high availability requirements are achieved.

Halian’ engineering experience and skills were an important element of the successful migration to Windows 2003 server. The company also provided support and management throughout the project-planning phase, coordinating and combining technical expertise with business expertise.
